I was born in Afghanistan near Kabul. I was an artist and a musician before I got drafted into the army for military service. One month into my military service, there was a coup and the government changed. I saw a lot of violence, and escaped from Afghanistan in 1984, when I was 27 years old. My family were scattered, I spent 8 years in India and came to UK in 1992.
I am still a musician, and I paint when I can and have the inspiration and can get lost in my imagination. I would love to earn my living from painting, so am very happy about my work being chosen for the Unlocked exhibition.
