I live in Brixton and have a studio in Streatham Hill. I studied Social Anthropology at Goldsmiths and have been an artist for over 20 years. I am currently returning to my practice having taken time off to concentrate on my career as a scenic artist.
In my work, I investigate the ways in which materials can be used to evoke these illusions.
When we look at clouds, the distressed paintwork of a weathered door or any number of random
sights our imagination can play tricks on us so that we see shapes, images and movement in the abstract patterns that are not really there.
In this series of paintings, I have manipulated acrylic paint on glass, then turned the glass so that the image is seen through it. I hope that the gap between the painstaking technique and the chaotic nature of the physical forces involved creates an imaginative space the viewer can explore.
